LEGO® 10226 Sopwith Camel

10226 Sopwith Camel is a Creator set released in June 2012. It includes 883 pieces.

The Sopwith Camel was a British First World War single-seat biplane fighter introduced on the Western Front in 1917. Manufactured by Sopwith Aviation Company, it had a short-coupled fuselage, heavy, powerful rotary engine, and concentrated fire from twin synchronized machine guns.

The plane uses mostly dark green, dark tan, dark grey and black parts. The control stick in the cockpit actually moves the ailerons, elevators and rudder through strings routed through the plane. The rotary engine spins when the propeller is spun.

The question the world is now asking

«Hey all I'm new to the forum but have been going to this site for years now.

I have gotten up to step 45 on the Sopwith Camel and been having problems. I followed what they wanted but the default position of the back flaps are sticking up instead of even like it should be. I figured out the rubberband attached to the window is a problem but there isn't much I can do since this is how it's supposed to be built.

Any help would be great or if anyone else has had this problem too»

Summer Reading 3: Boom

"Becky tinha 16 anos. Ainda me lembrava do tempo em que andava de totós e tinha pósteres de póneis na parede do quarto, não mais do que um ou dois anos antes. Depois houve qualquer coisa que deu para o torto no cérebro dela. Começou a ouvir death metal e deixou de lavar as axilas."

Summer Reading 2: Superfreakonomics (last chapter only)

"If the capuchins were so quick to turn to prostitution as soon as they got ahold of some money, just imagine how quickly the world would be overrun with monkey murderers and monkey terrorists, with monkey polluters who contribute to global warming and monkey doctors who fail to wash their hands. Future generations of monkeys, of course, would come along and solve these problems. But there would always be something to fix--like the monkey’s pigheaded insistence that all their children ride in car seats..."

Star Wars IV: A New Hope, Lego remake

«Chewbacca and the two robots sit around the lighted table
covered with small holographic monsters. Each side of the
table has a small computer monitor embedded in it. Chewbacca
seems very pleased with himself as he rests his lanky fur-
covered arms over his head.

THREEPIO: Now be careful, Artoo.

Artoo immediately reaches up and taps the computer with his
stubby claw hand, causing one of the holographic creatures to
walk to the new square. A sudden frown crosses Chewbacca's
face and he begins yelling gibberish at the tiny robot.
Threepio intercedes on behalf of his small companion and
begins to argue with the huge Wookiee.

THREEPIO: He made a fair move. Screaming about it won't help you.

HAN: (interrupting) Let him have it. It's not wise to upset a Wookiee.

THREEPIO: But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a droid.

HAN: That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their socket
when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.

THREEPIO: I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy, Artoo. Let
the Wookiee win.»

Sort of Scientific Theories: Why You Should Not Clean Your Room

Situations of greater entropy are statistically favoured. Things that are statistically favoured tend to happen, especially over time. A disordered room has greater entropy than an organized one. Thus an organized room will tend to become disordered over time. The only way to reverse this is by continually putting in energy from an outside system (i.e. making the effort to clean your room regularly)
HOWEVER, at some point a disordered room will be maximally entropic. At this point, continually failing to clean one’s room will not generally result in a more disordered state. Thus no additional input of energy is needed to maintain the state of the room
Therefore cleaning one’s room is futile - a task for the modern day Sisyphus. It is much more energetically efficient to allow the room to stay at its natural, maximally entropic state towards which it will always tend (and to expend that energy on more interesting things)

Happy Day of Portugal to all.

«Today, June 10, is an important national holiday in Portugal. We call it "Day of Portugal", and we celebrate national identity. I was never sure of what exactly that meant, as different times have called for different concepts and definitions, but of one thing I am sure: this is a beautiful country, blessed by nature and home of peace-loving people (and the best fish in the world!) who did throughout History a few absolutely fantastic feats - such as developing long distance navigation and ship building techniques that led to so many new world discoveries throughout the 15th and 16th centuries - as well as a few absolutely stupid feats - such as expelling Jews or preferring to be individualistic to social, shorter-term to longer-term oriented. In other words, our country is pretty much like many other countries, small but blessed in so many different ways, and the mere fact that we have experienced stable borders for close to one thousand years speaks loads of the resilience of the people. Born here from an immigrant family, I am hopeful for the future because we have bright, educated and hard working young people - but all of us will need to call upon ourselves the responsibility to make the country more efficient and fairer for all - much more entrepreneurial and social at the same time - and not allow a few incompetent, irresponsible and even corrupt people to stand in the way. In case of doubt, just kick them in the butt, guys. Happy Day of Portugal to all.»
